NATIVE PLANT REVEGETATION PROJECTS

Project: 3 Creek Ranch
Location: Jackson Hole, WY
Date: 2005
Goal:
Design and establish functional native vegetation communities in wetland zones of nine lakes at the 3 Creek Ranch Golf Course.

Description:
Intermountain Aquatics worked closely with 3 Creek management and an engineering firm to plan, design and implement a system of nine lakes supplied by surface water irrigation and well water. Revegetation was designed to improve lake circulation (algae inhibition), achieve instantaneous aesthetics, safeguard water quality by buffering shoreline erosion and golf course turf inputs and provide habitat for wetland-dependent species. Using native seed mixes, 256,520 containerized plant seedlings, and 1,296 pieces of Wetland Sod, Intermountain Aquatics established native plants on 198,260 square feet (4.5 acres) of lake edge wetlands. Vegetation installed protected and stabilized newly constructed lake edge wetlands from wave action, erosion from fluctuating water levels, and weed invasion. Additionally many waterfowl and shorebirds currently utilize the revegetated habitats. The golf play area / surface water interface, vegetated with native wetland plants, is providing an attractive, functional system.
